Clubs for young people

Everyone deserves a break – especially if you’re a Young Carer! These are some great, affordable local clubs and activities that are available for children and young people in your area…

* Some of these activities are free, but if you or your family aren’t able to afford any costs please speak to a member of the Young Carers team to see if they can help. We cannot guarantee to be able to offer financial support for these activities, but we can see if any support is available.

Acacia Adventure Playground

The Acacia Adventure Playground is for all children and young people aged 5-16. It is a stimulating and challenging play space where play workers are on site at all times when the playground is open. Facilities include a giant climbing frame, fire pit, trampoline, treehouses, a giant swing, wigwams and a spinner. Indoor activities are also provided, including table tennis, and a Sensory Room.

All children and young people must be registered with the Playground to attend.

Please note – 5 year olds are allowed in the first hour and a half of each session.

Attic Theatre – Creative Arts Group        

Attic Theatre is an arts organisation based in Mitcham. Attic’s Creative Arts Group is a free Saturday workshop for young people aged 10-14 to boost confidence and skills through a range of arts activities including film making, drama and creative writing.

Endeavour Youth Club

The Endeavour Club provides a safe environment for young people to enjoy many activities. The facilities within the club include: Football, Table Tennis, Pool, Air hockey, Multi-media music studio, Table football, Dodgeball, Basketball, Jewellery making, Dance Studio, Xbox One, Tuck shop. For young people aged 8 yrs and over (split into Junior and Senior club nights).

Fire Cadets

Fire Cadets offers young people (aged 13-17) the opportunity to develop their confidence and personal skills. It’s a bit like Scouts or Guides – only you’ll gain real-world skills, make lots of new friends, learn to work as a team, and have a lot of fun along the way. 

To join, you will need to complete an application form.

The Gap Youth Club

The Gap Youth Club (from the Free2B Alliance) is open to LGBTQ young people aged 13 to 19 (or 25 with a disability).
The Gap meets every Friday from 6 to 8pm in the Clapham Junction area.

Girlguiding

With guiding girls have fun, adventure and the space to discover their potential. Children and young people are split into different groups according to their age:

  • Rainbows (aged 4 to 7 yrs)
  • Brownies (aged 7 to 10 yrs)
  • Guides (aged 10 to 14 yrs)
  • Rangers (aged 14 to 18 yrs)

Scouts

Scouts is where young people make new friends, have amazing adventures, and learn new skills. Children and young people are split into different groups according to their age:

  • Squirrels (aged 4 to 6 yrs – only available in some areas)
  • Beavers (aged 6 to 8 yrs)
  • Cubs (aged 8 to 10 and a half yrs)
  • Scouts (aged 10 and a half to 14 yrs)
  • Explorers (aged 14 to 18 yrs)

Uptown UK – Dance Academy, Youth Club and Learning Centre

Uptown runs a whole host of activities for three nights a week at Leyton Road Community Resource Centre. Members can take part in music, dance, drama and sports.
