Nalini's Story

"I really do look forward to coming in and supporting them with the valuable work they do for the unpaid private carers within the borough"

Having worked within the private sector where volunteering was actively encouraged, it was always my desire to be involved within one, by ‘giving and gaining’ once I finished working, as this would give me personal satisfaction.

I learnt about the voluntary sector within the Borough of Merton by attending a workshop run for the unemployed by the Mitcham & Morden MP in 2015, the timing of which was perfect as I had just taken voluntary early retirement and the workshop sign posted me to the Vestry Hall, Mitcham where some of the borough’s voluntary sector is based.

I started volunteering at Carers Support Merton in June 2016 and this has been a very humbling and rewarding experience.  CSM have a highly talented and dedicated team who help the vulnerable carers in the borough with advocacy and guidance.  I really do look forward to coming in and supporting them with the valuable work they do for the unpaid private carers within the borough.

All I want for Christmas. . .

All I want for Christmas. . .

"All I want for Christmas? A few days to myself, a bit of time for me." When we asked carers what they wanted for Christmas they told us what they longed for most was the gift of time. Time for themselves. This Christmas, help us to make more time for carers. Please give generously. Every penny you donate will support our work making time for the people who need it most – Merton’s carers. Read more
