Young Carers Chessington World of Adventures Trip

A group of 16 young carers (aged 11-17) had a blast at Chessington World of Adventures during the May half term holiday. As part of our peer support programme, five members of the Young Carers Committee escorted 11 young carers (currently in year 6) along to the theme park, where they braved the wet weather, and the queues, to both have a fantastic time, and get to know one another. Young Carers Healthy Eating and Awareness Workshop

During February half term some of our young carers took part in a Healthy Eating and Awareness workshop. They had the opportunity to prepare, cook and eat a healthy lunch learning about different fruit and vegetables and were given the chance to try new foods. Read more

  • Volunteer Mentor Co-ordinator - Young Carers

    CSM has an ambitious development programme of work to support, promote and improve the quality of life for unpaid carers from the age of 5 years.  We have an exciting opportunity for a Volunteer Mentor Co-ordinator to join our friendly team. The postholder will implement a new mentoring programme for young Carers aged 10 – 17 years. This role provides an excellent opportunity to lead on the development of a project from scratch with plenty of scope to input your own ideas.

  • Who we are

    Carers Support Merton is an independent charity formed in 1991 by a group of local carers. We exist to support unpaid carers from the age of 5 in Merton to stay well and live a fulfilling life.

  • Parent carers

    Parents of children who have disabilities and are aged under 18, are welcome to participate in our range of activities for adult carers, as well as any of our groups and social events for which they meet the relevant criteria. Parents of children aged over 18, who are caring for their adult child, also qualify for our full range of services including Carers Assessment.

  • Refer an adult carer

    If you are working professionally with someone who will benefit from support as a carer, you can refer them to us directly with their consent.

  • Carers Assessment

    A carers assessment can help to identify your needs and get you the help you need to stay well and lead a fulfilling life.

  • What is a Young Carer?

    We define a 'Young Carer' as anyone aged between 5-17 that is significantly impacted by the diagnosed health condition, disability or substance misuse of a close relative. This means someone they live with or see on a daily basis.

  • What is a carer?

    An unpaid Carer is someone who looks after a friend, family member or neighbour, who due to disability, mental or physical ill health, or an addiction, could not cope without their support.

    We are here for unpaid carers in Merton. We rely on your donations to help us provide essential services and support to any unpaid carer who needs it.
